Two men were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Gerard Francey (30) of Glynn Walk, Carrickfergus, claimed Employment Support Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £2,283 while failing to declare employment. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months.
Martin Black (50) of Craigs Road, Carrickfergus, claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment Support Allowance and Rates Relief totalling £4,744 while failing to declare capital. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months.
They are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
