A woman was convicted at Newry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming £28,018 benefits she was not entitled to.
Colleen Campbell (35) of Drumalane Park, Newry claimed Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £28,018 while failing to she was living with her partner. She was given an 18 month prison sentence suspended for two years.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
Suspected benefit fraud can be reported to the Department for Communities anonymously on nidirect.
