A woman was convicted at Omagh Magistrates’ Court on 4 December for claiming over £10,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.
Melissa Murray (25) of Sunningdale, Omagh claimed Income Support, Housing Benefit and Carers Allowance totaling £10,395 while failing to declare employment. She was given a four month prison sentence suspended for 2 years. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
