Suspended sentence for benefit fraud at Belfast Magistrates’ Court

A woman has been convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court for fraudulently claiming over £10,000 in benefits.
Nora Murray (51) of Finaghy Road North, Belfast, claimed Universal Credit totalling £10,190 whilst failing to declare capital. She was given three months’ imprisonment suspended for twelve months. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
All money wrongfully obtained has been repaid to the department in full.
