Six convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court of benefit fraud

Three men and three woman were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Ryan Clarke (29) of Havana Court, Belfast, claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £177 while failing to declare employment. He was given a £200 fine.

Pauline Dallas (55) of Lynda Meadows, Newtownabbey, claimed Disability Living Allowance totalling £3,842 while failing to declare a change in circumstances. She was given a 3 year conditional discharge.

Padraig McCracken (33) of Gortnamona Heights, Belfast, claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £271 while failing to declare employment. He was given a £300 fine and £36 offender levy.

Sinead McKenna (29) of Farringdon Court, Belfast, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £3037 while failing to declare employment. She was given a 2 year conditional discharge.

Natalie Robinson (25) of Clowney Street, Belfast, claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £2675 while failing to declare employment. She was given a 3 year conditional discharge.

Grzegorz Ryng (41) of Bloomfield Court, Belfast claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £4,289 while failing to declare employment. He was given a 4 month prison sentence suspended for 2 years.

They are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
