A woman was convicted at Omagh Magistrates’ Court today for claiming over £5,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.
Maureen McKelvey (61) of Dunnamona Road, Omagh, claimed Employment and Support Allowance totalling £5,872 while failing to declare she was in receipt of an occupational pension. She was given an absolute discharge and the Department was granted a Compensation Order for the outstanding amount of £5,523 in the event that Mrs. McKelvey did not repay the monies owed. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
