A man was convicted at Belfast Crown Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
Stephen Sweeney (44) of Oldpark Road, Belfast claimed Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £35,398 while failing to declare he was living with a partner. He was given a nine month prison sentence suspended for three years.
He is required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
