Londonderry woman convicted for £7,000 benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Londonderry Crown Court today for claiming over £7,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.

Sandra McWade (55) of Woodland Chase, Londonderry, claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £7,373 while failing to declare employment. She was given an 18 month conditional discharge. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.

She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
