A man was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming over £6,000 in benefits he was not entitled to.
Anthony Moorhouse (59) of Strand Road, Londonderry, claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £6,166 while failing to declare he was in receipt of an occupational pension. He was given a one month prison sentence suspended for 12 months. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
