Craigavon man convicted of £2,000 benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court today for claiming over £2,000 in benefits he was not entitled to.

Paul Markey (27) of Meadowbrook, Craigavon claimed Income Support and Carer’s Allowance totalling £2,385 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £300 and a £15 offenders levy.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.

The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
