Community service order for benefit fraud at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court

A man has been convicted at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court for fraudulently claiming over £6,000 in benefits.
Harry Barr (34), now residing in England, with a last known address of Mount Hamilton Road, Cloughmills, claimed Universal Credit totalling £6,451 whilst failing to declare an income. He was given 150 hours community service. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
Mr Barr is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongly obtained to the Department.
Suspected benefit fraud can be reported to the Department for Communities anonymously.
