Update on the new Irish Language Strategy and the new Ulster-Scots Language, Heritage and Culture Strategy

In line with the New Decade, New Approach an Irish Language strategy and an Ulster Scots Language Heritage and Culture Strategy will be developed.

The principles and practice of citizen and community engagement and co-design will be a key part of the development and delivery of both strategies. Minister for Communities has agreed to a co-design approach and a timetable for the development and delivery of these strategies will be published, following Executive agreement.

A draft Irish Language Strategy and a draft Ulster Scots Language Heritage and Culture Strategy were consulted on and published by the then Department for Culture Arts and Leisure in 2015.

A report was provided on the achievements of both strategies in 2016.
