Maximising games legacy

Maximising Northern Ireland's legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London and World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) in Belfast.

Inspiring a generation

We are responsible for maximising Northern Ireland's Legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London and the WPFG in Belfast.

We endeavour to use these major events as a catalyst to inspire a new generation of young people to get involved in sport.

The Games provided a once in a lifetime opportunity to reap Economic (through Business and Tourism) and Social (through Culture, Education and Volunteering) benefits for Northern Ireland.

An exciting time for NI

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the World Police and Fire Games in 2013 took place alongside the 2012 Titanic Centenary and in 2013 Derry/Londonderry was crowned UK City of Culture.

This is a truly exciting time for Northern Ireland. The events of 2012 to 2013 provide a platform to showcase Northern Ireland to the world on the International Stage.

The Department will be at the forefront of maximising the benefits and Legacy for the people of Northern Ireland.
