This is a well preserved, unexcavated rath. The high, roughly circular central area is slightly dished, surrounded by a deep ditch, a bank and outer ditch, much silted up and partly occupied by the road. A causeway on the east side gives access to the central area. Although recent houses now surround the fort, we must thank the previous owner who, foreseeing the prospect of housing in this area, placed it in State Care, so securing this important and attractive site.
